I have worked in the travel industry, with direct mail, publishing, pet care facilities and currently operate a non-profit based in Kenya. I also have rental properties in CA/CO/AZ, one of which was used as an AirBNB and all are independent LLCs. My strengths are start-ups, sales, marketing, web development, employee management, rentals and non-profits. In the travel industry I first worked for a charter airline, then went on to manage multiple locations of a large national travel agency. Switching gears I went into publishing and direct mail marketing. I started several magazines in the Midwest and California which were later sold for a sizable profit. As a sideline, I opened a pet care facility in SoCal which ended up being a much larger and more profitable operation than anticipated and was purchased by a national chain 10 years after opening. Dealing with live animals as well as numerous employees presented many challenges but was quite rewarding. I tackled a host of issues including point-of-sale software systems, google marketing and analytics, client retention programs, safety and workers comp protocols, leasehold improvements, payroll services and more. During this period I also opened a grooming salon which involved retail sales as well as service. In retirement I now maintain my rental properties and operate a non-profit which provides education to marginalized children in Kenya. By far the most rewarding yet the most challenging work so far!
